AVENUE ST ANDREW’S CHURCH

ARCHIVES DISPLAY DAY

SATURDAY 30th MARCH

In the CONCOURSE

10.00am – 4.00pm

The story of the Soldiers on the Common, 1914 – 18, may be of interest to your group.

The Archive Group at Avenue St Andrews Church has recently discovered some original archive material. It tells the story of how volunteers from the Church were involved in supporting the thousands of soldiers in the Rest Camp on the Common before embarking for France.

Amongst other things on display in the Church Concourse on Saturday 30th March will be the 100 year old booklet: “A Record of 5 Years’ Work”. This includes details of all the regiments that passed through Southampton.

In addition, you will be able to see the Soldiers’ Book, containing the actual signatures of soldiers supported by Southampton people in the Avenue Hall.

We do hope you are able to drop in on the 30th March to see our unique resources. Click on the link below to see the exhibition poster.
