September/October 2018 Planning Report

PLANNING UPDATE, OCTOBER 2018
This is not intended to be an exhaustive review of all applications, many of which are routine. It does I hope list items of interest, some for information and some perhaps more contentious.
Jill Baston, Planning
273 Portswood Road, (next to Baffi Pizza) 18/01421/FUL
Erection of an additional second floor with balcony to front elevation to extend
existing restaurant. Local residents objected on the grounds of environmental impact, neighbour amenity and out of keeping with neighbouring buildings. Some
are similar to objections made to extension of Baffi’s, which was refused.
Awaiting decision.
21 Omdurman Road
Appeal against enforcement on an unauthorised wall. Appellant says the compliance requirements are excessive, and that insufficient time has been allowed. Awaiting decision.
2 Highfield Crescent, 18/01703/FUL
Erection of a single storey rear extension and alterations to roof of existing single
storey extension. This is the former surgery at the corner of Highfield Crescent and Shaftesbury Avenue. It is proposed to extend the building a little to the side and more extensively towards the back of the site and to change the current flat roof to pitched, sloping from the front to the back. Awaiting decision.
42 Blenheim Avenue, 18/0154/FUL
Erection of a 4 bed detached dwelling with vehicular access following demolition of existing garage. OTRA support the application except for the proposed demolition of part of the front wall, which is contrary to the provisions of the Conservation Area, and have requested that this element be reconsidered.
Awaiting decision.
9 Khartoum Road, 18/00776/FUL
Application for a loft conversion with side and rear dormers. Refused as out of character and impact on residential amenity.
8 Brookvale Road, 18/01251/FUL
Alterations including conversion of existing garage into a summer house, formation of vehicular access with dropped kerb, new driveway and new gate for pedestrian access from Russell Place. Refused on grounds of the impact on the character of the dwelling and Portswood Residents’ Gardens Conservation Area.
10 Oakmount Avenue, 18/01442/FUL
Alterations to site frontage including partial demolition of existing wall and provision of extended hard standing area to facilitate on site car parking (Part
retrospective). This application has met with a mixed response from many local residents. The house lies within the Oakmount Triangle Conservation area. Awaiting decision.
