Environmental lessons from Scrooge: Clean air past, present and future

Students, staff and members of the local community are invited to join a festive event about clean air next month, featuring contributions from leading University researchers.

Air pollution is associated with 40,000 premature deaths in the UK each year and Southampton is one of a number of cities taking steps to improve air quality. A recent public consultation on a Clean Air Zone in the city generated more than 8,000 contributions, highlighting a huge interest in the subject.

On Wednesday 12th December, 14.00 to 16.00, researchers from across the University will come together to discuss the history of air pollution, its current effects on our health and how technology is developing in the future to better record and monitor air quality in the future.

This accessible event is open to all and no prior knowledge of the subject is required. Festive refreshments will be provided.
