The Space Between Black And White by Esuantsiwa Jane Goldsmith
Thursday 25th June – 7pm – free entry

Join Esua Jane Goldsmith (Esua) via ZOOM as she talks about her memoir ‘The Space Between Black And White’, for Independent Bookshop Week. Register your interest here for instructions to join the event.

Esua will speak about her inner journey of self-discovery growing up mixed-race in Britain, and the truths that could help a growing community of mixed-race people struggling to find their own space in the world.

Esuantsiwa Jane Goldsmith was raised in 1950s London in a white, working-class family – her education in racial politics was immediate and personal. From Britain and Scandinavia to Italy and Tanzania, she tackled inequality where she saw it, establishing an inspiring legacy in Women’s Lib and Black Power movements. A feminist and political activist, she works with over 100 organisations on five continents as a dynamic facilitator and strategist.

Conversations From Southampton
Tuesday 30th June – 7pm – free entry

Register your interest here for instructions to join this event.

To accompany the Conversations From Calais exhibition (we are working out how to share this with you!) we are very proud to welcome Nicola Walters from Southampton Action, and Mike Brown from Clear, who will be talking about the work they do supporting refugees in our City and further afield.

The exhibition aims to re-humanise those affected by the refugee crisis by using public space to share conversations volunteers have had with migrants met in Calais. The project aims to take over public space, commemorate these voices and inspire social change.

Sustainable(ish) by Jen Gale
Thursday 2nd July – 7pm – free entry

Join Jen Gale via ZOOM to learn how to fit sustainable living into your life, in a way that works for you. Register your interest here for instructions to join this event.

The Sustainable(ish) Living Guide covers every aspect of our lives from the stuff we buy and the food we eat, to how we travel, work, and celebrate. Jen Gale gives practical, down to earth ideas to slot into your daily life, alongside a gentle kick up the butt to put it into action. Learn how to change your impact without radically changing your life and figure out the small steps you can make that will add up to make a big difference.

Jen is ordinary mum of two whose life changed when she cajoled the family into a year of buying nothing new. She recognised the power that we have to make a difference to the things we care about, by learning about the impact of our daily choices, and figuring out easy swaps and changes. Jen lives in Wiltshire where she writes and podcasts about all things Sustainable(ish).
