A reminder to lock your doors and windows, even when at home, after man entered a home in Burgess Road…..

Message sent by
Marisa Charles (Police, Corporate Communications Officer, Hampshire)

We are appealing for information and reminding residents to lock their doors and windows, even when at home, after a man entered a home on Burgess Road and assaulted the occupant just before midnight last night (Wednesday 25 October).

The occupant, a woman in her 60s, suffered minor injuries to her hand as result but was able to leave the house and call police.

We believe the man then left the address, running off along Burgess Road. Officers were deployed to the scene and carried out a search of the area. No arrests have been made at this time and enquiries are ongoing.

We would ask anyone with information about this incident to get in touch. We believe this man was in the Burgess Road area for some time before the incident.

He has been described as white and wearing a dark-coloured baseball cap and dark clothing.

Did you see him?

Please call 101 and quote 44170415678.

Local neighbourhood officers will be in the area today carrying out enquiries.

We would like to remind residents to ensure windows and doors are locked, even when you’re at home. Take a look at our website for some advice on how to protect you and your property –  https://www.hampshire.police.uk/advice/protecting-your-home-and-belongings/burglary/

Report anyone acting suspiciously to 101 or 999 if a crime is in progress.
