The Home Office has launched a new ‘Abuse Codeword Scheme’ that provides a simple and discreet way for people experiencing domestic abuse to signal that they need help and to access support.
By “asking for ANI” (short for Action Needed Immediately) at participating pharmacies nationwide, people will be offered a private space where a trained pharmacy worker can understand if the victim needs to speak to the police or would like help to access support services such as national or local domestic abuse helplines.
