At a comfortable pace\, and possibly with some modest hills along the way\, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long\, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour. \nJoin us on this six and a half mile steady family ride centred on Southampton Common and discovering routes through Highfield and Portswood. This route has something to interest the whole family – the Common boasts the Hawthorns Nature Study Centre & cafe (which many years ago used to be a zoo)\, the children’s playground\, cycle centre training track where you can return to practice your road skills\, ornamental lake & Boat Lake\, and the cattle pound.
