DESCRIPTION:CAROLS ON THE REC \nFollowing the popularity of last year’s Carols on the Rec we are pleased to say we are singing again! \nSunday December 13th 4.30-5.30 on the Rec \nLast year nearly 600 adults and children from our local community joined together to sing carols with a brass band and choir\, not to mention the mince pies\, hot chocolate….and who could forget the glowsticks! \nThis year we are thinking about Christmas shopping: Have you started yours yet? We will be inviting people to take part in our Christmas shopping challenge and the answers will be revealed at Carols On The Rec on the 13th December. Special ‘Christmas shopping lists’ will be available from local schools\, Trago\, the library\, Waitrose and www.highfield.org.uk/carolsontherec. The items on the list are all things that high street shops have said they would ‘give’ to baby Jesus as a present. The challenge is to find out which shop has given each item. Finally we are asking people ‘What would you give him?’ and to submit ideas to www.highfield.org.uk/whatwouldyougivehim? Prizes for the most creative answers will be given out on the 13th. \nThis year we will have a screen to help us with the words of the carols. Not always easy to read the carol sheets in the dark! Also the new Southampton Community Children’s Choir\, ‘Sing Out’ will join us for their first performance.
