Received from local resident the following alert!!! PCSO 12900 GRANAGHAN
I thought I would alert you to the following as I received a letter saying that I was a winner this morning!
It all looks very official but as I hadn’t entered the lottery I immediately thought that it must be a scam.
It may be that other people have received similar lettters. They are headed –
INTERNATIONAL FIFA WORLD CUP ONLINE LOTTERY.
BEWARE OF THIS ‘FIFA’ SCAM
A Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator has just received a letter from ‘Westpac Equity Holdings Ltd.’ of 22 Hanover Square, London W1S 1HD saying that she has won an International FIFA World Cup online lottery in the sum of £900,000.00 and, (of course), she needs to send a fee so that the cheque can be sent out to her. I’ve just had a look online and find that there have been numerous complaints about this so-called lottery and that an African man by the name of Michael Bell sometimes phones saying that he is the ‘International Services Manager of Powerball Lottery’.
Beware — if you get one of the above letters or a phone call from Mr. Bell, just disregard/put the phone down.
Please let your Watch members know about this scam too, so that they don’t get taken for a ride and end up paying the ‘fee’.
