1900 The Cutthorn.
“Situated near the mid point of the north side of the Common, on the Town’s traditional boundary. It is a rectangular mound with a ditch, thought to be of Iron Age origin. It was the ancient meeting place of Southampton’s Court Leet. ‘Cutthorn’ is a thorn tree.” Southampton City Council
