An early photograph of Hampton Park between Portswood and Swaythling near the bottom of Bowden Lane. You can see the tin tabernacle that preceded St Alban’s Church and is the site today of the Polish Club. The nearest row of shops on the right is today the presbytery for the Catholic church of the Immaculate Conception. The tram is electrified so I would guess this photograph dates from around 1910.
