University of Southampton Jubilee Sports Centre extension

A major extension to the University Jubilee Sports Centre is planned and the Scheme Details have been made available to HRA.  The current facilities on University Road opened in 2004 but as the university grows and Health and Wellbeing become ever more important additional and improved facilities are planned in the major new extension which will include a large fitness suite, studio spaces, 3 squash courts, a spectacular climbing and bouldering wall and a café overlooking Valley Gardens to the west.  The extension will connect to the existing facilities to the south and the whole site is to be extensively and sympathetically landscaped providing additional cycle and scooter storage and accessible parking spaces.

 Key Programme Dates

• Submission of planning application – Late November 2021
• Start on Site enabling works – March 2022
• Main works start– Summer 2022
• Opening of new extension – January 2024
