Urban Wild Festival – Monday 26 May to Sunday 1 June

A city-wide festival celebrating local wild places and the connection, creativity and community that surrounds them. The festival invites everyone to explore the city’s green and blue spaces through a dynamic programme of workshops, activities, walks, talks, performances, group cycle rides, interactive experiences and eco-inspired adventures. There are more than 30 events hosted by a variety of groups and organisations spread across Southampton. Among these are some taking place in our area, including:

‘Wild Wonders: Bees, Bug and Beasties’ at Portswood Rec;

Two Rewilding talks at Highfield Church Centre (not faith related);

Hawthorns Open Day and Trail;

Conservation Volunteering on The Common;

Wild Poetry Walk, October Books;

St Denys Carnival.

The Festival culminates on the final day, June 1st, in Urban Wild on The Common (from 11am to 9pm), with stalls, activities and workshops – some of them to be booked in advance.
