Southampton Demonstrations – Key individual networks (KINS) update: from Inspector J Maidment, Southampton North Neighbourhood Policing Team – 20 September 2025

Dear all,

Yesterday, the Echo released information pertaining to an offender who was charged.  It is important we continue to be transparent with cases brought against offenders in relation to exposure incidents especially given our policing priorities.  I have included the information at the very bottom of this email for your awareness.

Last night’s protest saw approximately 60-80 protestors and 80-100 counter protestors with a policing presence and security in place from the hotel.  The fencing continues to feature at protests to block access to the car park and give some space between the protestors and the hotel in order to further resident and staff safety. Ceno continue to be engaged by the hotel in relation to their intentions around the use of the car park.

There was one public order incident from a passing vehicle displaying rude behaviour to those present.  This is being looked into.

We continue to police any planned demonstrations and provide a response to any pop-up situations that may occur.

Please continue to encourage reporting of any incident and information through our normal channels as our emails are not monitored 24/7 due to shift work.  Recent enquiries and reports have been recevied through email and these could have resulted in them not being serviced with the urgency we would all like.
