Congratulations to Friends of Portswood Rec on receiving the Highly Recommended Certificate from the Hants and IOW Wildlife Trust for work done by the Friends Group!

Really pleased that the Friends group was shortlisted as a finalist for the ‘Collective Action for Nature’ Award by Wilder Southampton. Even more pleased that when Denise and Garth attended the Hants and IOW Wildlife Trust’s annual conference last Thursday, they received a Highly Commended certificate for the work the Friends group does to conserve and restore nature. Fantastic to receive recognition for all the hard work by our brilliant gardening volunteers. Here’s a few words from Denise.

‘This is one of a number of awards that are given to groups that are working to conserve and restore nature. Given the prestigious projects that were represented, including many on a landscape scale, we were thrilled to be awarded a ‘Highly Commended’ certificate. This is in recognition of all the hard work put in by the group, to improve the park for wildlife. Many thanks to everyone concerned.’
