| Avenue Campus Proposal for Student Accommodation
Ward Councillors, Kat Barbour, Marie Finn and John Savage met before Christmas to devise a combined approach to combatting the University’s plans to build 400+ student accommodation rooms in large blocks on the green space and car park surrounding the teaching blocks at the Avenue Campus.

The plans have not yet been submitted to the Planning Authority. Our Councillors, local residents and HRA think that a demonstration of community disapproval before this formal step is taken, would be an effective way to communicate the widespread community opposition for any additional building at Avenue Campus.
A Community Objection Walk has been organised for 1pm on Wednesday 21 January. Meet at the Avenue Campus and then walk to Building 37 at the University (opposite the Jubilee Sports Complex) which is the George Thomas Administrative Centre. A Ward Councillor letter will then be handed in.
