| A Planning Application has been made on behalf of Southampton University to manage trees on the Avenue Campus site.
The Application is referenced: 26/00006/TPO. In the application, permission is sought to fell 1 cherry tree and 5 mature ash trees (stated ash die back). A similar application was made last year, possibly for the same trees. Whilst it is true that ash does contract the fungal disease, not all trees have to be felled. HRA will put in an objection to ensure that SCC Tree Officers take a considered inspection of the trees under this TPO to ensure that any felling is absolutely necessary. These are mature ash trees and their loss will impact the screening between Avenue Campus and adjoining residential roads.
Make your comments on the SCC planning Portal 26/00006/TPO before the deadline of the end of February. The Planning Officer is Will Taylor: will.taylor@southampton.gov.uk
