Southampton Demonstrations: Key individual networks (KINS) update from A/Inspector Richards, Southampton North Neighbourhood Policing Team – Tuesday 14 April 2026
Posted by Highfield Residents' Association on Apr 14, 2026 in News | 0 comments“Dear Kins,
I am writing to update you regarding the protest activity that took place outside Highfield House Hotel on Friday 10th April 2026, involving attendance from both a protest group and a counter‑protest group.
Prior to the event, officers engaged with those attending, recognising, and respecting their right to protest, while also requesting that they remain considerate of the local community, particularly in relation to noise levels.
The event commenced at 1750 hours and concluded at approximately 1950 hours. The protest passed without concern, with no arrests, no disorder, and no requirement to utilise dispersal powers.
We will continue to monitor these events closely and act proportionately to maintain public order while upholding the rights of individuals to protest. Where the legal threshold is met to impose conditions or take enforcement action, these powers will be used appropriately.
A police presence remained in place until all groups had fully dispersed.
