The latest update from Southampton City Council on the Local Election Resulats 2026 in ‘City News’
Posted by Highfield Residents' Association on May 8, 2026 in News | 0 comments“At Southampton City Council’s local elections on Thursday 7 May 2026, 17 of the 51 seats were up for election, one for each of the city’s 17 wards.
Following the election, no single political party holds a majority of seats on Southampton City Council. This means the council is now in a position known as No Overall Control. Discussions will now take place between the political groups to agree how the council’s administration will operate. Further details will be announced in due course.
The full make-up of the council is now as follows:
Labour: 24
Reform UK: 8
Liberal Democrats: 7
Conservative: 6
Green: 6

In Portswood Ward, Lorna-Marie Foster, Green Party, was elected and replaces Anne Marie Finn, Labour & Co-Operative Party. A Green Party Gain.
