Update from Chief Inspector Ilderton following events on Saturday 20 June 2026 – 22 June 2026
Posted by Highfield Residents' Association on Jun 22, 2026 in Important Police Communications, News | 0 comments“Good Afternoon,
I am writing to provide an update and reassurance following the protest activity that took place in Southampton on the 20th of June.
The event passed safely and without disorder, supported by a significant policing operation and clear conditions under the Public Order Act.
We recognise that events of this nature can cause concern.
Please be reassured that –
- A significant and visible policing presence was in place throughout
- Neighbourhood Policing Teams were actively engaged pre, during and post event
- Community impact was closely monitored in real time
We are continuing post event engagement and reassurance activity, and we remain in close contact with partners to monitor any ongoing community concerns.
Following previous disorder, enforcement activity continues to demonstrate our commitment to taking action where necessary. The investigation remains ongoing, with further work progressing.
We would ask for your continued support in sharing calm, clear and reassuring messaging within your communities.
If you have any feedback or concerns following the event, please do not hesitate to share these with us.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership.
