Message from Portswood Ward Councillors about carriageway repairs on Highfield Lane:

Balfour Beatty, working in partnership with Southampton City Council to manage the highways service across Southampton, is due to carry out carriageway repairs on Highfield Lane. They say:

“These works will be carried out in 2 phases and are due to take place Monday 6 July 2026 for 2 days, between 9:30am and 3:30pm.

Phase 1: Monday 6 July with a full road closure at Nile Road, please follow the diversion route.

Phase 2: Tuesday 7 July with a full road closure from Furzedown Road to Hawthorn Road, please follow the diversion route.

Due to the nature of the repair in Phase 2, there may be a need to install temporary traffic signals outside of the proposed working hours to ensure the area remains safe for when we return to finish the repairs.”
