Southampton Demonstrations: Key individual networks (KINS) update from A/Inspector Richards, Southampton North Neighbourhood Policing Team – Monday 1 December 2025
Posted by Highfield Residents' Association on Dec 1, 2025 in News | 0 comments‘Dear KINS,
I am writing to provide an update on recent protest-related activity in the Portswood area.
On Friday 28th November 2025, police resources were deployed in anticipation of the usual weekly Friday demonstration. Although no protestors or counter-protestors attended, the area remained calm throughout the evening.
On Sunday 30th November, a protest took place outside Highfield House Hotel involving both demonstrators and counter-protestors. Officers were present throughout, and Section 34 dispersal powers had been pre-authorised to assist in managing the event. Two individuals were dispersed and instructed to leave a specified area. I can confirm that no arrests were made.
We continue to monitor the situation closely and remain in regular contact with community representatives to support a balanced and safe approach to any future gatherings. At this stage, it is anticipated that protests at this location may continue on a weekly basis.
A proportionate policing plan remains in place, and we will continue to work closely with you and the wider community to manage these events safely and effectively.
