More on Paul Greer here:

“After studying American History and Literature in Southampton, Paul Greer was at a loss what to do for money. He woke up one morning and decided to become a journalist. He wrote a long letter to the student grants department at Hampshire County Council and a fortnight later got a letter back from a lady that inexplicably began with the words: “Dear Paul, we would be delighted to fund…” Truely different times!!! So Paul packed his bags, made his way up north and quickly realised being a journalist wasn’t anything like as difficult as he thought it was going to be. In fact (if you exclude trying to learn shorthand), he maintains it’s like falling off a log. Paul says he loved joining the BBC every bit as much as he loved leaving it 30 years later.”
