Southampton Demonstrations – KINS Community Contact update from Hampshire and IOW Constabulary – 7 August 2025

“Last Friday, protestors once again gathered outside the Highfield House Hotel, which we policed to ensure all parties were doing so lawfully and to try and limit the broader impact on the local community.

Going forward, we do expect to see further protests there and we will continue to have officers with the right skills present at these, along with our local neighbourhood policing team conducting additional patrols throughout the week.

Everyone has the right to lawful protest, and this is something policing has a long history of upholding.  However, we will deal with anyone who steps outside of the law at such gatherings, and in the days following protests we review all the information and intelligence which is available to us.
