Police and Communities Together Meeting (PACT) – Thursday 8 January 2026, 6.30pm-8pm

Police and Communities Together Meeting (PACT)

You are warmly invited to the next Police and Communities Together Meeting (PACT) to be held at Highfield Church Centre, Bethany Lounge, on Thursday 8 January, 6.30pm-8pm. The meetings are held several times a year and are run by the SCC Community Safety Team and the local police. The previous meeting was held in September 2025 and topics addressed included:

  • Progress on the Public Space Protection Order (PSPO)  SCC PSPO Full statement
  • The police strategy for managing the protests at the Highfield House Hotel
  • E-Scooters and bikes on the pavements and illegal parking
  • Speeding in 20mph zones
  • Drug related and other anti-social behaviour issues.

Portswood Police list their priorities for Portswood (September 2025) as:

  • Tackling anti-social behaviour hot spots
  • Tackling urban crime – in particular shoplifting
  • Keeping town centres safe.

Portswood Police Priorities

At the PACT Meeting this week, it is expected that there will be an update on the PSPO, particularly in relation to the enforcement strategy. The new Order was approved by SCC’s Cabinet in November 2025 and, now that the signs have been installed along Portswood High Street, the PSPO is now live. See example of a sign below. Please report anyone you see violating the Order to the police or Community Safety. See details here on how to report and which authority to use: Reporting anti-social behaviour in Portswood

It is anticipated that other topics will include the Police and Community Safety response to the protests at the Highfield House Hotel, plus any other issues raised at the meeting. This is your chance to ask the questions that matter to you locally.

There is usually an opportunity to speak in confidence with our Dedicated Neighbourhood Police Officer, PC Adam O’Neill, after the meeting.
