| Cyber Security Awareness Month: Protecting your Email and Social Media Accounts
As part of Cyber Security Awareness Month, Report Fraud is raising awareness of the importance of protecting online accounts from cyber criminals. Through our latest campaign, we’re encouraging the public to strengthen their online security by adopting safer sign-in methods, such as passkeys, and taking simple steps to secure their accounts.
Account hacking occurs when criminals gain unauthorised access to someone’s email, social media, or other online accounts. Once in control, they may use these accounts to commit further fraud, such as impersonating the account owner to request money from friends and family, promote fake ticket sales, or obtain access to additional personal information.
Join us on-line for this one-hour webinar, where we’ll explore the growing threat of social media and email account hacking and share practical advice to help you stay safe online.
During the session, we’ll cover:
- Current cyber threats affecting the public
- Common tactics used by cyber criminals, including phishing, social engineering, data breaches, and SIM swap fraud
- The warning signs that an account may have been compromised
- What criminals can do with stolen accounts and personal information
- Practical steps to secure your online accounts and reduce your risk
- How to report cyber crime and where to access support and guidance
Join us on 29 October, from 10:00am to 11:00am, to learn how to better protect your online accounts and stay one step ahead of cyber criminals. |
