“From Monday 5 January 2026, bin collection days will permanently change for households across Southampton. This is the first major update to collection rounds in over a decade and will help us run a more efficient and reliable service. Before the new schedule begins, there will also be temporary festive changes. Most collections up to Christmas Eve will take place as normal. There will be no collections between Christmas Day and Sunday 28 December. Collections will then run a few days later than usual from Monday 29 December. “All residents will soon receive a letter explaining the new permanent collection days and what to expect. Please check your updated bin calendar online to confirm your new collection day and avoid missed collections over the festive period and into the new year.”
