It’s school summer holidays but our cafes continue through August so check what’s happening each week in our Dementia News.
Two groups starting in September, our Living Well with Dementia, for those recently diagnosed, and for any carers, our next Course for Carers also starts in September. See below for more information and how to book your place.

Have you been recently diagnosed with dementia? An opportunity for you to come and share with others about what this means for you and learn how you can live well with your dementia. This course will start on Wednesday 2nd September, 10-11.30am and continue to meet on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month. We have our next Course for Carers starting in September at Sholing. If you are caring for someone who has recently received a diagnosis of dementia then we invite you to come along to these seven sessions. For more information check our website. AgeUK in Southampton run a service offering benefits advice: free and comprehensive information on a wide range of subjects affecting older people – from Pension Credit to care packages. They say “We can help you identify the problem, explain the choices available and help you decide what you want to do.” Tel 02380 368636 or apply through the website.
Padwell Road Day Centre, run by Age UK, is a lively friendly fun Day Centre for people living with dementia or other problems. It is situated just off the Inner Avenue, and costs £55 per day plus £9 for a lovely hot lunch. For more information

Carers Group
1st Tuesday of each month, 6.30-8.30pm at Sholing Salvation Army Centre, 93 North East Road, Sholing, SO19 8AF.
A group for any unpaid carer to drop in – just enjoy a cuppa and chat or find out more information on what’s available for carers. It’s all very relaxed, just a small donation of 50p for your cuppa and a biscuit. More details from Debbie.
