“IMPORTANT NEWS TO SHARE – COURSE UPDATE
We have some news to share with you all. Following extensive consultation with various stakeholders, we are going to be changing our permanent route from Saturday 24th May 2025.
The new course is intended to take out some of the bottlenecking following the turn at the Bellemoor Corner out on the cross path and bridge that occurs on the first lap away from the start. The change has also been made to reduce some of the wear and tear to the grass verges and to give the area time to recover naturally.
A link to a map of the new route can be found here: https://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/6520125697
The start will be in exactly the same place as now and will follow the path north-west across the open area of the Common (known as The Flats) and on into the trees. We will now turn left at the Bellemoor junction, and follow the path anti-clockwise round the southern part of the Common, past the Cemetery Lake and turning left again on to the gravel path. We will then head north-east and cross over the start line on to the gravel/tarmac path that goes around the back of the Children’s Play Area. Turn left on to the short section of gravel just before The Cowherds entrance and then go immediately left again heading north-northwest up the hill towards the top. We will then turn left at the top and then head downhill following the tarmac path all the way past the Bellemoor junction, going past the Cemetery Lake for the 2nd time and once again turning left onto the gravel path. This time, when you get to the starting area, turn left back on to the main path and then head approx 300 metres before turning left just before the tree line back for the final few metres into the finish on the gravel path.
Maps showing the new course will be on display at this weekend’s parkrun and if you have any questions, please come and see joint ED, Nic Woollard who will be happy to speak with you.
Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to joining us on the 24th May.”
