The cost of an event ticket goes towards helping support your local independent bookshop and community space and means we can continue to run events. Free tickets are available as part of our commitment to making our events accessible to all.
APRIL
Planting the Seed – Book Launch & Signing
Saturday 6th April, 11am
Join Sheila Manhanga for her book launch & signing of Planting the Seed.
Sheila has worked with other women around the world to bring you Planting the Seed, an anthology of women’s stories which provide inspiration for a brighter future. Come and listen to some of these stories. Proceeds from the sale of the book will go to Yellow Door and Women’s Aid.
What do we really need to do to reach ‘net zero’? What does net zero actually mean? Can we rely on technologies that don’t yet exist at scale? What behaviour changes are needed? This free film and discussion evening, being run by Transition Southampton, will help cut through the greenwash. Please click here for more details.

October Books Open Mic
Friday 19th April, 6.30pm
There is a growing hub of authors, poets, and storytellers in Portswood – something we’ve always celebrated and championed here at October Books. Whether you’re a poet, playwright, essayist, or novelist, reading your own work or someone else’s, all are welcome!
The event is a fundraiser for October Books to ensure we can continue offering a stream of events throughout the year.
