“We are making some changes to our events programme for the first few months of 2024. There will be a new series of ‘We can learn to…’ workshop drop ins running in the shop. These will take place on a Saturday and we will be supporting groups to set up their own activities. We have some lined up already include collaging, singing and bunting making, Come along and share skills, support others and enjoy conversation.
Take a look at our regular events listing for everything going on the the shop each month and all our other events can be found on our webpage here. The cost of an event ticket goes towards helping support your local independent bookshop and community space and means we can continue to run events. Free tickets are available as part of our commitment to making our events accessible to all.
An exhibition of wood engraving prints by Charles Harries, Jutta Manser SWE, Jonathan Miller, Jan Slater and Maggie Storm SWE.
Five Wood Engravers group was originally formed at a print workshop near Bishops Waltham. They now work independently, and together in Southampton, meeting several times a year to work as a Master Class guided by Artist and Printmaker, Kate Dicker RE SWE. On these occasions they discuss their current work, next projects and generally help each other out.
The exhibition will be on display and sale through January.
There is a growing hub of authors, poets, and storytellers in Portswood – something we’ve always celebrated and championed here at October Books. Whether you’re a poet, playwrite, essayist, or novelist, reading your own work or someone else’s, all are welcome!
The event is a fundraiser for October Books to ensure we can continue offering a stream of events throughout the year.
