HRA@50 Art for Art’s Sake, Avenue St Andrew’s Church Hall – 22 and 23 August from 12 noon to 5pm each day! Artists and crafters are busy preparing for the Art for Art’s Sake event!
Posted by Highfield Residents' Association on Jul 8, 2026 in News | 0 commentsPhil Hewitt is a long-standing Highfield resident who started a new hobby of wood turning in retirement and is now starting to show his beautifully crafted pots at local craft fairs. The wood he uses is often salvaged locally, for example from Highfield Church pews. This will be the first time Phil has joined the Open Studios event, which HRA is supporting this year.
Phil Lloyd, a painter, is also exhibiting for the first time. Phil specialises in painting and his work is currently being displayed in one of the front windows at Avenue St. Andrew’s Church on the Avenue, SO17 1XQ, where Art for Art’s Sake will take place. Phil will be displaying some large canvasses, including his impressive self-portrait and is currently building his own display boards to mount his work!
The exhibitors at the Art for Art’s Sake event this year will feature ten local artists, several crafters and three authors. HRA will also be exhibiting the winning photos from our competition.
Everyone is welcome – children can take part in a trail to spot usual items on the stalls. Homemade tea and cake is also a popular feature of the event. Accessible for wheelchair users; parking available in Cemetery Road, off Northlands Road opposite.
