Just to be aware if you are heading in that direction:
The Avenue will be closed “at its junction with Highfield Lane on Tuesday 2 September for 10am to 2pm for urgent tree removal”. More on this and diversions in place in The Echo article dated 30/8/25 here: https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/25425803.avenue-closed-southampton-city-council/
Additionally, Burgess Road will be closed from University Road to 30m east of its junction with Broadlands Road from Thursday 4 to Saturday 6 September, 8pm to 6am only for drainage investigations.
