Southampton Archaeology Society presents a study day in which contributors will speak about Saxon and Medieval Southampton, Winchester and sites further afield. This is a special opportunity to learn about our heritage from those who investigated it.
The themes and speakers are:
Boundaries and Burials – Hamwic’s extent and its cemeteries – Matt Garner;
The SOU 20 seax, adult male dominance in early Hamwic – Ian Riddler;
Gold, silver and coins in Hamwic and beyond – David Hinton;
Roman Bath’s Archway Project – Stephen Rippon;
People & animals in Roman and medieval Winchester – Mark Maltby;
HAMPOTS: Hampshire Post-Roman Pottery Type Series – Dan Carter;
Pottery in Public – Duncan Brown.
Tickets are £21 for SAS members, £25 for non-members and £15 for students/under 18s.
