Southampton Demonstrations: Key individual networks (KINS) update from A/Inspector Richards, Southampton North Neighbourhood Policing Team – 3 November 2025
Posted by Highfield Residents' Association on Nov 3, 2025 in News | 0 comments“Good Morning.
I am writing to provide an update on recent protest-related activity in the Portswood area.
On Friday, police resources were proactively deployed in anticipation of the usual weekly Friday demonstration. No protestors attended, and the area remained calm throughout the day.
However, on 2nd November, a protest did take place outside Highfield House Hotel, involving both demonstrators and counter-protestors. Officers were present throughout to ensure public safety, and Section 35 dispersal powers were authorised to assist in managing the event.
Two individuals were arrested in connection with the protest. Both have been released on bail with conditions not to return to the area, while further enquiries are actively ongoing.
The local neighbourhood policing team will continue to patrol the area, engaging with residents and businesses to provide reassurance and support.
