On Friday, 14 November 2025, a protest took place outside The Highfield House Hotel with attendance from both demonstrators and counter-protestors. Police presence remained in place throughout the event, and no arrests were made. The protest concluded without significant disorder.
After careful consideration, powers under Section 35 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 were authorised in advance to ensure a suitable balance between protecting an individual’s right to protest and the need to protect the wider public. The dispersal powers were enacted to prevent escalation, protect public safety, and restore community confidence.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely and act proportionately to uphold both public order and civil liberties.
