Tranquil Southampton areas mapped for peaceful journeys by researchers at the University of Southampton

Researchers from the University of Southampton have mapped the most peaceful spots in Southampton to help people have more relaxing walks and bike rides in the city.
This project, in partnership with Tranquil City, has led to the creation of the ‘Clean Air Routes’ website by Southampton City Council. The website offers routes that are quieter, greener, and less polluted.
By testing routes on the website, researchers found that users spent more time in tranquil and quiet areas with trees and greenery. These peaceful areas include places like Lordswood, Southampton Common, Highfield, and Harefield.
The goal is to help residents reduce exposure to air pollution and improve their mood. You can visit the Clean Air Routes website:
and you can also access it via the Go Jauntly app.
