Work in progress on the Horseshoe Green in the Uplands Estate!

Following the substantial road resurfacing works to Uplands Way and the need to divert the stream around the Horseshoe Green (to protect the new road surface), works are underway to reinstate the Green to create a more ecologically diverse space than was there prior to the works. The photo below shows the works in progress at Autumn 2025.
A substantial amount of work has been undertaken by residents to plant a large number of new plants, bulbs and meadow grasses which will continue into the Spring. By Summer next year, rather than the somewhat stark, muddy and urban vista shown in the image, will be glorious grassland habitat and wet meadow which will be home to a wide range of flora and fauna; a new species and habitat-rich oasis in urban Highfield!
