Dangerous driving; driver overtook stationery traffic queue at lights and drove the wrong way round the traffic island opposite Ceno – Highfield Lane

Occurred outside Portswood Broadway Bus-gate times:

At 8.30am on Friday 13 February 2025, a man in a large white car was spotted driving down Highfield Lane towards the Sainsbury’s Portswood traffic lights, then he overtook the stationery queue for the lights, drove the wrong way around the traffic island opposite Ceno’s and joined the right-hand lane to turn onto Portswood Broadway. Reported to the police.

NB The yellow box, to enable the junction to remain clear and the traffic to filter across, and also the island were installed to try and stop people trying this dangerous trick. Could the traffic signal phasing be adjusted to reduce the length of the queue?
