Am, Monday 26 July 2026: new encampment in the making along the other strip of sheltered area outside the former Cancer Research shop and Atlantic Cleaners (in the former Portswood Shopping Centre)

Many smaller items and street people (some street drinkers) that were part of the original encampment outside the former Farm Foods (former Portswood Shopping Centre), have now moved further up to where the former Cancer Research shop and Atlantic Cleaners used to be, outside the former Portswood Shopping Centre.

This is still in the sheltered area but also has a walkway/steps, presumably a public walkway/steps. Reported to Community Safety and asked the question whether the sheltered area here is part of the former Portswood Shopping Centre and therefore on private land? If so, could Fusion also put up hoarding here to prevent encroachment.

An encampment is now in the making in this new area – some street drinkers, suitcases, an old bike, bedding, small items of street furniture and other stuff.

There is no sign of Fusion putting up the hoarding in the previous encampment area yet.
