Use of Section 34 Dispersal Order for street drinkers and ASB – London Road, Bedford Place and Above Bar

According to the Daily Echo and Southampton Police on Facebook 2/6/25: The Neighbourhood Policing Team implemented a Section 34 Dispersal Order at 12.15pm on 2 June 2025, effective for 48 hours, to curb antisocial behaviour and street drinking after street drinking reports and other anti-social behaviours.

The article in the Daily Echo refers:”The nature of the order gives the police the authority to direct any individual involved in, or likely to be involved in, such behaviour, to vacate the specified area, with non-compliance being a criminal offence. So far, officers have dispersed five individuals, with two more arrested due to outstanding shoplifting offences.”
