Increase in anti-social behaviour – The Meadow, Portswood Residents’ Gardens

She mentioned that they learned from their meeting with representatives from Community Safety, the police and Councillor Finn on 13 August 2024 that Community Safety appear to know many of the street attached/street drinkers and can disperse them/move them on. HRA understands that they work hand in glove with the police on this. HRA also heard at the meeting that they were involved in the case of the man sitting on the bench in Cranford Way which figured in the WhatsApp Group.

Query about whether Community Safety are able to do anything on private land?

Response from Cllr Finn: “They were very helpful when a block of flats in Portswood had people sleeping rough in their courtyard and that was private. So it’s worth discussing things with them.”
