The abandoned vehicle team trace road tax via DVLA data.
They give a grace period for removal before the vehicle is removed and scrapped. It’s about 28 days (it has been longer in the past).
If a vehicle has an MOT but is untaxed, the abandoned vehicle team may not necessarily process for disposal.
When reporting the AV, retain the reference number. If it takes an undue amount of time, Councillors can chase up.
On Private Land
Info from Cllr Fielker:
The Council have no duty to remove the vehicle. It’s the landowner. The Council may get involved if it is an Environmental concern.
